Overview 

Tex Best Travel Centers in Port Isabel is looking for a friendly, dependable Coffee Host / Barista to create a welcoming guest experience while preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso drinks, and light food items. This role combines hospitality, beverage preparation, cleanliness, and teamwork to help keep daily operations running smoothly.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly and create a warm, welcoming cafe environment.
  • Take customer orders accurately and process payments.
  • Prepare coffee, espresso, tea, and other beverages according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Serve pastries, snacks, and other menu items in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked front counter, beverage station, and dining area.
  • Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other cafe equipment safely and correctly.
  • Answer customer questions, offer menu recommendations, and resolve basic service issues professionally.
  • Complete opening, closing, and side-work tasks, including restocking, cleaning, and sanitizing.
  • Follow food  safety, sanitation, and company service standards at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with teammates to support smooth service during busy periods.
  • Cross trained for varies positions.

Requirements

Qualifications

The position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Previous barista, cafe, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math  and cash-handling skills.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn drink recipes, equipment use, and service standards.
  • Food handler permit or ability to obtain one, if required by local regulations.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday availability. Candidates should be comfortable standing for extended periods, lifting light to moderate supplies, and working in a busy customer-facing environment.
