Position Title: Art Teacher - 7th-8th and 11th-12th
Location: Great Hearts Arlington Upper School
FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Position Summary: We are looking for life-long learners passionate about shaping students' hearts and minds. Join Great Hearts Academies, a growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools in Phoenix (AZ), Baton Rouge (LA), Dallas/Ft. Worth (TX), and San Antonio (TX).
Great Hearts currently provides over 30,000 K-12 students with access to a high quality, classical liberal arts education. We believe the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually and morally.
Fine Arts at Great Hearts:
  • Fine Arts are not just electives but part of the core curriculum at Great Hearts: all students study music, drama, poetry and studio art.

  • Studio Art coursework includes both "applied" focus on technique and imitation of masterworks, as well as substantive arts history, and appreciation.

  • We boast a stellar faculty across the fine arts curriculum, most of whom are professional artists and performers.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
  • Certification is not required for general education
  • All majors are welcome
