Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a PROFESSIONAL FEE CODER to join our CODING team!
The Professional Fee Coder accurately processes professional service charges, including verification of CPT and ICD codes through our EPIC Workques. May process technical component charges in compliance with Provider Based or RHC Billing requirements. The Professional Fee Coder will perform coding functions for either primary care or specialty focused areas.
HOURS: Full Time 1.0 FTE, 80 Hours Biweekly
Experience/Qualifications
  • Knowledge of coding principles normally acquired through an Associate's Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Business Services, or an equivalent program with emphasis in coding or a minimum of two years coding experience.
  • Experience or certification in a specialty area is beneficial.
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the prior medical office experience.
  • Certification in coding by a recognized professional organization is required within 18 months of date of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, billing practices, reimbursement practices, and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Previous computer experience required.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to generate correspondence.
  • Ability to assess medical record documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Possesses ability to work and communicate effectively with co-workers and physicians.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Skill in use of resource materials.
  • Knowledge of professional component documentation, coding and billing regulations and reimbursement systems.
  • Knowledge of technical component documentation, coding and billing regulations and reimbursement systems per Hospital Outpatient Medicare guidelines and regulations.
  • Knowledge of EMR process/workflows.
