Job description

     More than Billing Applied Medical Systems is a trusted partner for many practices when it comes to medical billing services. Our reputation for submitting clean claims that get reimbursed 95% of the time speaks for itself. However, there is much more to AMS than billing services.

At Applied Medical Systems (AMS), we’ve spent over 45 years helping healthcare providers thrive through expert medical billing, coding, and practice management. We’re looking for a Revenue Cycle Support Specialist who thrives in complexity, works well independently, and is driven to find solutions—not wait for them.


  • Responsible for accurately correcting coding related edits and for billing in Epic.
  • Responsible for abstracting operative reports in 3M and/or Epic.
  • Ensure timely completion of patient accounts to meet established department standards and/or goals.
  • Maintains 95% accuracy or greater in accordance with department standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical coding rules and regulations to include, but not limited to, compliance, payer policy, CMS regulation and CCI
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Is respectful and courteous to all people, including coworkers and clients.
  • Able to work independently as the job is remote.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Displays positive attitude and team spirit by being willing to assist wherever needed.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal course of study in medical terminology, disease processes, anatomy and physiology
  • Completion of a formal course of study in medical coding and regulatory compliance.

Licensure/Certification

  • REQUIRED: Coding certification through AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA) or AAPC (CPC, COC, or specialty equivalent)
  • Required: Minimum 2 years operative report abstracting in one or more of the following: General Surgery, Trauma or Neurosurgery
  • Required: Coding certification through the AAPC or AHIMA. Cannot be “apprentice” status.
  • Required: 3 years operative report abstracting in one of the above specialties.
  • Preferred: 1 year experience in Epic
