THE POSITION

We are looking for a Clerk Typist 2 to join our Children & Youth Services team. With us, you will perform a variety of moderately complex typing and clerical duties to support key processes and services that protect children and empower families to provide for their children in a safe environment that enables them to reach their full potential. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs a variety of moderately complex clerical work involving the typing and processing of documents in a variety of functions. As a Clerk Typist 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Clerical Work: Set up and type letters, general instructions, reports, and other office correspondence and documents
  • Recordkeeping Assistance: Perform electronic scanning and filing, develop charts and spreadsheets, and complete data entry to input client information into state and county databases
  • Support Reception: Answer phones, greet clients, and respond accurately to questions about County policies and regulations
  • Attention to Detail: Check forms for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with procedural requirements; check computations for accuracy and make corrections
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Assist caseworkers, supervisors, and perform other duties as assigned

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development to the level of eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; or
  • Any combination of equivalent experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
