Description Cosumnes Community Services District Parks & Recreation Department is seeking dynamic and qualified individuals for the position of CORE Fitness Coach. About CORE Recreation Center CORE is a high-quality fitness and sports center that has everything community members need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. CORE is 59,000 square feet, offering cardio and strength equipment, boutique group fitness, an indoor walking track, two gyms, habit and nutrition coaching, and more.

Plus, activities that will keep kids entertained while adults exercise. Position Description Under general supervision, leads group exercise classes and small group training sessions; and designs and implements workouts that incorporate functional training, strength development, cardiovascular conditioning, mobility work, and proper recovery techniques at the CORE Recreation Center. The CORE Fitness Coach is a part-time classification used at the CORE Recreation Center.

All incumbents in this class lead group exercise and small group training sessions, including, but not limited to: Les Mills Body Balance, Les Mills Body Pump, Mat Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), metabolic circuits, kettlebell training, and TRX Suspension Training. For those incumbents who are additionally qualified, they also perform one-on-one certified personal training sessions for participants of various ages and skill levels. Salary Information: The District typically appoints new employees at the first step of the salary range.

Consideration for an appointment higher than step 1 will be based on experience, education, or the need for unique skills or knowledge, and shall be no more than the mid-point of the salary range. CORE Fitness Coach Group Exercise Classes & Small Group Training Sessions: $26.89 -$28.68 per hour One-on-One and Semi-Private Personal Training: 60-65% commission per private training session (View Qualification Requirements) CORE Attendant I District trainings and any other non-coaching hours: $18.95-$20.48 per hour Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all the duties listed. Employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level as required. Lead high-energy small group training and group exercise classes, tailoring programming to match the group's goals, abilities, and fitness levels.

Provide personal training sessions that include fitness assessments, program design, progress tracking, and ongoing motivation. Develop structured workout plans that incorporate resistance training, functional movement patterns, core stability, cardiovascular conditioning, and recovery. Modify exercises for various fitness levels, limitations, or injuries while maintaining safety and effectiveness.

Educate participants on proper technique, injury prevention, and healthy lifestyle habits. Create new, innovative class formats and progressive training programs to keep offerings fresh and results-driven. Contribute to CORE's small group training program development, including seasonal themes, challenges, and progression cycles.

Support marketing efforts by providing class descriptions, fitness tips, and promotional content. Assist with client retention by maintaining professional relationships and providing personalized follow-up. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment, setting up and sanitizing equipment before and after sessions.

Enforce facility safety and etiquette standards in accordance with Cosumnes CSD policies. Provide on-floor engagement and member support during non-coaching hours. Attend staff meetings, continuing education sessions, and skills training to stay current with industry trends.

Monitor participants for signs of physical distress and respond appropriately to prevent injuries. Qualifications Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered qualifying at the sole discretion of the District. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be: Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field preferred.

Specialized group fitness certifications for assigned formats (e.g., Les Mills, Pilates, Yoga, TRX, kettlebell, cycling). Experience: One (1) year of teaching and/or coaching in the area of instruction; or applicable degree or certification/designation in the area of instruction. Special Requirements Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid and CPR/AED certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment

Specialized certifications for instructor-led courses within the first sixty (60) days of employment, including but not limited to: Les Mills Certification, Pilates, Certified Personal Training, and Yoga. Must be 18 years or older Required Personal Training Qualifications: Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a current nationally recognized personal training certification from one or more of the following: NASM - National Academy of Sports Medicine ACE - American Council on Exercise NSCA - National Strength and Conditioning Association ACSM - American College of Sports Medicine ISSA - International Sports Sciences Association Physical Requirements The CORE Fitness Coach is a physically strenuous position. All incumbents must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Additionally, incumbents may be required to submit a "fit-for-duty" release following any work-related injury before resuming active coaching duties. In addition, incumbents must possess the physical abilities as follows: Mobility: extensive physical activity; requires strenuous physical work; pushing, pulling, or lifting up to fifty (50) pounds; occasional walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and squatting Vision: constant use of overall vision; occasional color and depth vision Dexterity: frequent repetitive motion; frequent grasping, holding, and reaching; frequent operation of fitness-related supplies and equipment Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and talking in person and on the phone; ability to hear and see with sufficient acuity to perform the essential functions Emotional/Psychological: frequent public and/or coworker contact; occasionally works alone Driving: ability to use fine and gross motor coordination for driving Typical Working Conditions Work is typically performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, depending on class format. This position may require early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday availability.

Incumbents are exposed to various environmental factors, including noise, moisture, dust, vibrations, and extreme weather conditions such as heat and cold. Work may take place and require travel in a vehicle to and from off-site indoor and outdoor locations throughout the District. The District promotes a safe and healthy work environment and provides appropriate safety and equipment training for all personnel as required.

Phone Interview: The most qualified candidates from the minimum qualification review will be invited to participate in a phone Interview.

First Interview: The most qualified candidates from the first interview will be invited to participate in an in-person Oral Panel interview and skill assessment. Conditional Offer Procedures - Candidates selected receive a conditional offer of employment contingent upon the successful completion of the following: Background Check: A State of California, Department of Justice criminal background check. Medical Clearance: A clear tuberculosis screening and a clear drug screening will be required.
