Job description

Job Description:
CNC Cutting Operator Responsibilities
  • Reviews 2D & 3D CAD design blueprints
  • Program 3 axis CNC plasma and laser cutting table utilizing Hypertherm's Pronest offline programming software
  • Performs a variety of duties including grinding, de burring, cleaning of parts, cutting and removal of scrap
  • Selects correct cutting tips and other attachments
  • Sets correct controls for speed, feed rate, depth and angle, or pressure and temperature
  • Check geometric layout of flat patterns provided by engineering department to insure accurate part production
  • Measures finished work pieces to determine if they are the right size and inspect for defects. Use meters, gauges and other precision instruments
  • Determines sequence of operations in a program
  • Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes
  • Operates Niagra ¼" Shear
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations
  • Operates overhead cranes to move materials and parts as needed

Job Requirements:
Education & Training
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years related experience preferred (Some college coursework or technical school knowledge preferred)
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints.
  • Manufacturing background (education/experience) preferred.
  • Must have adequate reading comprehension skills.
  • Good math skills, especially algebra, trigonometry and physics.
  • Must have good problem solving skills.
  • Must have excellent time management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be highly detail oriented.

B. Technical Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machines of various types
  • Strong math skills to include decimals and fractions, as well as a strong understating of Geometry is a must
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and blueprints
  • Ability to measure and work with tight tolerances
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings

C. Physical Requirements
Performs climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing for long periods of time, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. Coordinates the use of eyes, hands and feet. Maintains physical strength and stamina. Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This position requires the incumbent to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
Working Conditions:
This position is subject to hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles and electrical current. This position is also subject to air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
Pay Range $17.00-$20.00 per hour
