JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct vehicle traffic in designated parking lots, roadways, and unloading zones.
  • Assist students and families in locating residence halls, check-in locations, and parking areas.
  • Monitor parking lots to ensure vehicles comply with move-in parking procedures.
  • Communicate parking and unloading instructions clearly and professionally to students, families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Help maintain safe pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow throughout move-in operations.
  • Coordinate with Residence Life staff, Campus Safety, Facilities, and Mav Movers to address traffic concerns and operational needs.
  • Monitor loading and unloading zones and encourage timely movement of vehicles to maximize parking availability.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming first impression for incoming students and families.
  • Report accidents, safety concerns, emergencies, or disruptive behavior to supervisors immediately.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of move-in signage, traffic cones, barricades, and directional materials.
  • Maintain radio communication with move-in supervisors and other event staff throughout assigned shifts.
  • Answer basic questions regarding move-in procedures and campus directions.
  • Perform other move-in related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, sun, wind, and rain.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to move traffic control equipment such as cones, signs, and barricades.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in customer service, event operations, parking services, security, or traffic management.
  • Familiarity with Colorado Mesa University campus and residence hall locations.
  • Experience using two-way radios.

Work Schedule
  • Temporary position during Colorado Mesa University's fall move-in period, August 12, 13, 15, and 16.
  • Shifts are 7:15am -5:30pm.
  • Must be available for required move-in training prior to the start of move-in.
