Job description

General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Student Life Coordinator coordinates student engagement activities, leadership development initiatives, and campus events that support student success and foster a vibrant campus environment. The position provides oversight and support for student organizations, the Student Senate, and Institutional Work Study (IWS) students while ensuring compliance with CMN policies, procedures, and cultural values. The Student Life Coordinator serves as the central point of coordination for student travel eligibility, ensuring all academic, conduct, and administrative clearances are completed through internal routing in accordance with CMN policies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility is student engagement and success; administrative functions support this mission. The provisions of the Student Life Coordinator duties include, but are not limited to:
  1. Coordinate activities and events on campus, such as event planning and logistics.
  2. Serve as the Student Senate Advisor, attend Student Senate meetings and sponsored events, and provide appropriate oversight to ensure activities and elections are conducted in a fair, equitable, and policy-compliant manner.
  3. Assist with the training and coordination of campus ambassadors, student leaders, IWS students, club advisors, and peer mentors.
  4. Verify eligibility, coordinate and oversee IWS students, providing ongoing feedback and formal performance evaluations each academic term.
  5. Assist with the management and coordination of student life events and activities, including maintaining a master schedule of events and providing support at additional campuses or centers as needed.
  6. Process all required paperwork for events and activities, including activity forms, vendor packets, and contracts, in accordance with institutional procedures.
  7. Monitor student clubs' and organizations' budgets and process related financial and administrative documentation.
  8. Review and facilitate all student travel documentation for student clubs and organizations as required.
  9. Serve as the primary coordinator and verifier for student travel eligibility, acting as the single point of submission, review, and reconciliation for all student travel requests.
  10. Coordinate internal eligibility clearances for student travel, including academic eligibility through Academic Affairs or the Registrar, library standing through Library Services, student conduct status through Student Affairs, and final approval through the Dean of Academic Affairs.
  11. Maintain accurate records of student travel approvals, denials, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for compliance, audit, and reporting purposes.
  12. Communicate travel eligibility decisions clearly and in a timely manner to students, advisors, coaches, and sponsoring departments.
  13. Assist with updating the Student Activities Handbook and departmental publications.
  14. Support event planning for Student Senate and CMN students.
  15. Encourage advisors to engage their clubs and organizations in appropriate activities, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
  16. Assist with ensuring accurate and timely communication of event information to the Student Life and Leadership team, Marketing and Communications, Information Center, Webmaster, and other designated campus platforms.
  17. Support culturally grounded programming that aligns with the mission, values, and traditions of CMN.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of student, employee, and institutional data, ensuring compliance with FERPA and CMN policies.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of CMN.

Job Specifications:
  1. Minimum Requirements - Associate's degree in Student Affairs, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field. Experience working with college students, in student life, student activities, or leadership development.

2. Special Considerations - Ability to speak the Muscogee (Creek) language is preferable but not a requirement. Native American and Veteran preference.
Physical Requirements:
  1. May be required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
