MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

GDIT is seeking a skilled Cloud Data Engineer with expertise in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud to provide engineering support for our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program. This role supports critical missions for U.S. Army Europe and AFRICOM, focusing on cloud environments and data engineering solutions.

How a Cloud Data Engineer will make an impact: As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will play a key role in implementing and optimizing Google Cloud Platform (GCP)environments for our customers, while also contributing to projects involving AWS and Azure. You will leverage your knowledge in Google Cloud tools and services to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions, ensuring seamless integration across multi-cloud platforms.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Architecting, analyzing, and supporting modern cloud environments, with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) while also working with AWS and Azure technologies.

  • Utilizing Google Cloud-native tools alongside AWS and Azure services to analyze environments and provide actionable recommendations for cost savings and optimization strategies.

  • Configuring and managing Google Cloud tools (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Dataflow) as well as AWS tools to scan, catalog, and secure large-scale data inventories, delivering critical insights to customers.

  • Performing analysis and supporting the migration of modern databases, data processing services, data architecture, and data storage solutions across Google Cloud, AWS, and Azure platforms.

  • Developing BI reports, dashboards, and predictive analytics using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Google Looker, AWS QuickSight, MicroStrategy, and others.

  • Generating and delivering data inventory reports to customers as part of project deliverables, leveraging multi-cloud capabilities.


WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Data Engineer Senior must have:

  • Education:Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience:1-2 years of experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including familiarity with its core services and tools; 3-4 years of hands-on experience in a cloud engineering role, with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.

  • Technical skills: Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform, for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Hands-on expertise with Ansible for configuration management and automation of IT environments. Extensive knowledge of modern cloud design and engineering principles, with deep expertise in AWS and Azure ecosystems, and working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Proficiency in deploying and managing Kubernetes and/or ECS, including container orchestration across multi-cloud environments. Experience with Amazon S3, Athena, Glue ETL, Redshift, and QuickSight, as well as data warehousing and enterprise data architecture. Familiarity with Google Cloud tools such as BigQuery, Cloud Functions, or Dataflow is a plus. DevSecOps experience, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines across cloud platforms. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell for automation and cloud operations. Strong Linux administration skills and advanced SQL scripting capabilities for database management and optimization. Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Superior knowledge of Agile methodologies and iterative development principles in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

  • Security clearance level: Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance.

  • US citizenship required

  • Role requirements: 4+ years of experience as aCloud Analyst/Engineer, with a focus onAWSand/orAzurecloud services. 1-2 years of experience working withGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP), including exposure to its core services and tools. 1-2 years of experience indata warehousing,data architecture, andSQL relational databases. Proficiency withAWSandAzurecloud services, includingAmazon S3,AWS CLI,Athena,Glue ETL,Redshift, andQuickSight. Familiarity and exposure withGoogle Cloud toolssuch asBigQuery,Cloud Functions, orDataflowis a plus. Experience withApache PySpark,Python,Scala,Terraform, and containerization technologies such asKubernetesorDocker.

  • Certifications: Current DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+). At least one current cloud certification (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Must obtain ITIL v4 Foundations certification within 90 days of employment if not already certified.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $107,744 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
