Job description

Title: Clinical Medical Assistant- Bilingual-Spanish

Department: Clinical

Schedule: FT – Mon-Fri

Work Setting: In-Office

Work Attire: Scrubs

Position Summary:

As a Clinical Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing and coordinating orthopedic patient care which includes performing routine office procedures, testing, participating in patient teaching, communicating effectively with others, and assisting the physician/mid-level provider in the delivery of patient care. You will be will be working in clinic with an upper extremity/orthopedic surgeon. Non-certified Radiology Technician duties will consist of utilizing equipment which produces ionizing radiation to obtain radiographs for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Certified Medical Assistant.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to rooms in a professional and appropriate manner. (wheelchair, stretcher)
  • Works with Physician/ Mid-Level providers to document appropriate, accurately on all patients’ medical records by obtaining patient’s history of present illness, vital signs and complies with MIPS when entering data into EHR.
  • Completes orders for treatment prescribed by the physician ex: prescriptions, occupational/ physical therapy, work notes, lab requisition, tests, and surgery orders.
  • Prioritizes work and anticipates the needs of physicians by gathering related records, reports, correspondence, or other specific information prior to the patient visit.
  • Uses safe injection practices by labeling, dating medication vials, labeling syringes, confirming laterality with the patient, and discarding biohazardous materials in appropriate receptacles.
  • Perform timely and quality radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by physician.
  • Perform quality control checks/audits on radiologic equipment.
  • Escort patients to exam room and pull up images for physician.
  • Use radiation safety and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members.
  • Download images to Efferent. Send images to patients when requested ex: CD, email, or QR code
  • Maintain a clean and sterile work environment.
  • Performs hand hygiene before, during and after interactions with patients.
  • Answers patient phone call and explicitly follows physicians’ orders or INOV8 Orthopedics protocols for completion/documentation in patient electronic health record.
  • Manages and schedules appointments.
  • Completes daily room stocking, disinfection and removal of sharps and biohazardous containers.
  • Stay up to date on medical terminology and procedures.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations.                                                                                                                                                                                                       
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred


Experience Requirement and License Requirement

  • Minimum of three years medical office experience, preferred orthopedic experience.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred
  • Venipuncture 1 year (preferred)

 

Education:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • NCRT a plus, but not required
