Lab Technician - Wake Forest, NC
MainStreet Family Care operates over 60 fast-growing urgent care clinics across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina. As we continue expanding access to high-quality healthcare in rural communities throughout the Southeastern U.S., our mission remains the same: Speedy recovery for our patients.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Lab Technician to join our clinical team in the Wake Forest, NC area. This role plays a vital part in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results through high-complexity real-time PCR testing and other laboratory procedures that directly impact patient care.
The Lab Technician is responsible for performing high-complexity molecular diagnostic testing, including real-time PCR, while ensuring compliance with CLIA regulations, quality standards, and MainStreet Family Care values. This position supports providers by producing reliable laboratory results that enable efficient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform CLIA high-complexity, real-time PCR testing in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements
  • Collect, prepare, process, and analyze patient specimens
  • Accurately document laboratory results in the electronic medical record
  • Perform quality control procedures, calibration, and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
  • Prepare and manage specimens for internal and external testing as needed
  • Monitor laboratory inventory, reagents, and expiration dates
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report testing discrepancies, equipment issues, or quality concerns
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to support efficient operations

Minimum Qualifications
  • Medical laboratory certification, or a Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science that is compliant with CLIA standards.
  • Two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, including molecular or PCR-based testing

Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience
  • Experience performing high-complexity real-time PCR testing in a regulated laboratory environment
  • Experience in urgent care, primary care, or high-volume clinical settings

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in real-time PCR and molecular diagnostic techniques
  • Knowledge of high-complexity laboratory testing standards and CLIA requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot testing and equipment issues

Schedule
  • Approximately 30-40 hours per week
  • 10-hour shifts, scheduled across 7 days per week
  • Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
