Engineering Director- Engineering Administration
Qualifications:
BS in Engineering or Physics, required
Certified Energy Manager (CEM), desired
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), desired
15+ years experience in Healthcare System setting required in leadership role.
Knowledge of Joint Commission readiness, engineering/ maintenance, construction/ project management, clinical engineering and energy management.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership for all Engineering-related staff, including communicating organizational and departmental goals and priorities, and setting the tone for departmental work within the organization.
Establishes goals for management staff and works with them to develop and monitor goals for non-management staff.
Effectively manages departmental personnel in order to maintain fairness and equity and foster individual development, teamwork, and morale.
Objectively evaluates employee performance and competencies and provides constructive feedback.
Conducts monthly staff meetings that incorporate the use of safety and technical training sessions, presenting material in a manner that fosters understanding and willingness to learn by the participants.
Builds and develops team capabilities through resource analysis, hiring, mentoring and training; assures appropriate resources are available to meet the needs of the organization.
Oversee effective planning, management and execution of all maintenance activities in collaboration with organizational leadership.
Plans and recommends the development of physical facilities in collaboration with organizational leadership. Reviews and recommends approval of plans for construction and infrastructure upgrades. Advises on structural changes and additions or modifications to buildings. Acts as liaison with contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and materials and equipment suppliers. Approves contracted work.
Manages multiple concurrent engineering projects, schedules, budgets and resource allocation, ensuring all continue to move forward appropriately.
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for executive leadership and staff for Clinical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Building Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Fleet Management, Construction department, infrastructure planning and development, utilities management, and provides Matrix Management leadership for Engineering Services across all Archbold Medical Center facilities.
Be responsible for technical roadmaps, including evaluation of new technologies and training for staff associated with the new technologies.
Create Key Performance Indicators to monitor and measure areas of improvement in contract service levels, safety and operational efficiencies.
Implement new and emerging technologies, and apply creative solutions to support our organizational goals and objectives.
Build and foster proactive and trusting relationships with organizational leadership to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Function independently and exercise considerable judgement in the resolution of problems and/or coordination of emergency incidents.
Effectively administers Building Automated Systems (BAS) for the organization to effectively and efficiently manage the environment and energy consumption.
Effectively communicates affected departments on the status and progress of related projects in terms of budget, schedule, and operational impact.
Ensures that all required documentation is properly completed, maintained, and archived to ensure compliance with all Joint Commission standards including Equipment Management, Utility Management, Security Management, Hazardous Materials and Wastes Management, Fire Safety Management, and Life Safety.
Oversees compliance of all facilities maintenance and service contracts with applicable state and federal regulations, and requirements for facilities maintenance and construction.
Develops department operating budgets and, where applicable, capital projects.
Develops and implements short and long-term operational plans to improve and increase productivity, efficiencies, and cost containment with a focus on best practices, healthcare trends, and innovative solutions while remaining in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Analyzes financial and work impact of major project decisions prior to and during project, identify trends associated with projects
Maintains operations and projects within approved budget and established time frames.
