Job description

Location: Silver Bay, MN
Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Planner at our Northshore Mining Company Plant Site in Silver Bay, MN. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Planner will be to detail maintenance activities for day-to-day, periodic, and long-term maintenance events. The planner ensures that maintenance technicians have all of the resources required to perform the repairs on plant equipment. The planner develops and updates repair procedures, orders parts and materials, coordinates the use of heavy equipment, and provides guidance to maintenance technicians on repairs. The planner also develops the work scope section of contract bid packages used to engage outside contractors in Plant maintenance work.
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Organize incoming work into defined planned work packages.
  • Develop and document work procedures and work scopes using Ellipse.
  • Identify, specify and order required contract labor, parts, tooling and equipment for required repairs.
  • Build parts lists and standard jobs in Ellipse.
  • Promote safe job execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial Technology or other related degree, or at least 5 years related work experience is required.
  • Strong computer skills; preference for individuals with computerized maintenance management system experience.
  • Preference for individuals with Microsoft Office experience and MS Project basic knowledge.
  • Strong technical writing experience and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of maintenance management and predictive/preventative maintenance.
  • Must be a champion of safe production and continuous improvement.
  • Must be capable of working effectively and safely using a participative management style in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of Mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in leadership positions is preferred.
  • Previous project management experience is preferred.

The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $105,000. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location and business or organizational needs.
