The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.
We have a future need for a Systems Engineer to provide onsite support in Alexandria, VA.
Responsibilities
SPA is seeking a Military Operations Systems Engineer to support multiple clients within the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)). The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of modelers, operations, and technical analysts to conduct rigorous analysis using multiple analytic methodologies and techniques on both structured and unstructured data. Responsibilities include collating, cleaning, and leveraging broad and varied datasets; developing and employing systems engineering and modeling and simulation tools and methods; and contributing to the design and execution of repeatable analytic approaches. The employee may be required to brief and train both technical and non-technical audiences on products and deliverables. The successful candidate will apply robust analytical skills, clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize effectively between long-term tasks and rapid-response support in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience conducting systems engineering, modeling and simulation, research, and analysis
  • Experience collating, cleaning, and leveraging broad and varied datasets to produce rigorous analysis
  • Experience with systems engineering, software engineering, or statistical analysis
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Able to work fully onsite based on client needs

Desired:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) software
  • Experience conducting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
  • Experience designing and employing repeatable analytic methods for both structured and unstructured data
  • Familiarity with science and technology development programs or military operations
