Job Description:

The Merchant Region Executive (MRE) leads a team of field-based Market Managers and Merchant Consultants. MREs primary role is to drive responsible growth through the execution of merchant acquisition and deepening strategies to deliver payment processing solutions to Business Banking and Small Business clients that meet their business priorities. They partner with leadership across the Consumer and Business Banking organization to deliver the company by developing and executing integrated region-wide customer-driven strategies that drive exceptional client care, deeper client relationships, and operational excellence. They will work closely with cross functional and internal resources to deliver the voice of the client to the development of broader solution, marketing and sales strategies. MREs develop a team of high performing Market Managers, Merchant Specialists, and Merchant Consultants, hiring the right talent and ensuring they have the resources, skills, training and support to meet business objectives. They create and maintain an environment of accountability and continuous improvement. MREs lead with knowledge of the industry, client needs and Bank of America merchant solutions to provide coaching, vision and leadership to their teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Market Managers, Merchant Specialists, and Merchant Consultants (~150 FTE)
  • Expertise required in merchant pricing, software, gateways, and security, as well as expert industry knowledge in Healthcare, Retail, Restaurant, Business-to-Business, and ISVs
  • Minimum 2 weeks of travel each month (approximately 10 Business Days per month)
  • Drive accountability with leaders to ensure balanced performance is achieved, including assigned sales and revenue goals, operational excellence, risk management, and client experience standards
  • Ensure partnership and growth strategies are implemented across the region to build relationships and cultivate new business and strategic alliances across Business Banking and Consumer client segments in order to promote Bank of America's suite of merchant solutions
  • Act as a champion for clients by connecting expertise across the company to help them achieve their goals
  • Recruit, develop and cultivate a diverse group of leaders and consultants within the region

  • Organizationally savvy, proven leadership in coordination efforts across multi-business unit stakeholders
  • Strong relationship management and ability to navigate the complexities of gaining buy-in, building consensus, and resolving conflicts in a large, distributed organization

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of direct leadership experience or comparable at a region or division level managing managers in the merchant business or related banking or payments field.
  • The ability to translate strategy into tactics for the organization to implement, navigate a highly matrixed organization, and create realistic goals and implementation plans that are achievable and successful
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; can adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations
  • Proven ability to manage complex large-scale initiatives, driving timely decisions
