Job description

About Modern Law

Modern Law is a dynamic, family-centered law firm on a mission to make the divorce and family law process more compassionate, transparent, and effective. We believe the first call or consultation sets the tone for a client's entire experience, which is why our intake team plays one of the most important roles in the firm.

Why This Role Is Different

This position is built specifically for our Scottsdale office, and Scottsdale is not an afterthought in the job description — it's the heart of it.

Some of our strongest cases come from this community, and the people who call us expect a level of service that matches the standard set everywhere else in this city: attentive, polished, personal, and never transactional. When someone from Old Town, DC Ranch, McCormick Ranch, or Grayhawk calls us during one of the hardest moments of their life, they should feel like they're talking to a neighbor who genuinely understands their world — not a call center.

That's the bar. Five-star service, every call, no exceptions.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Knows Scottsdale well — the neighborhoods, the schools, the courthouses, the traffic patterns, the difference between a Shea Boulevard commute and a Loop 101 one.

  • Is genuinely part of the community — through local organizations, networking groups, chambers, charities, youth sports, faith communities, or simply years of showing up.

  • Understands what clients here expect from a professional service experience, and can deliver it consistently.

  • Can build local relationships that bring cases to the firm, not just process the ones that arrive.

If you can't picture yourself confidently making small talk about the Scottsdale Arts District, a client's kid's school, or where to park at the Downtown Justice Court, this probably isn't the right fit.

Compensation:

$25 - $30 hourly

Responsibilities:Who You Are

We're looking for an extroverted, outgoing, and emotionally intelligent professional to lead the client intake process. This role combines customer service, sales, and leadership — helping potential clients take their first steps toward legal representation.

You'll be the voice of the firm for new clients: building trust, listening deeply, and guiding people toward the right solution. Our ideal candidate describes themselves as a "people person," truly enjoys working on a team, and brings genuine warmth, high energy, and enthusiasm to every conversation.

What You'll Do

Client Experience & Intake

  • Serve as the first point of contact for potential clients by phone, email, or online inquiry, delivering a five-star experience that reflects the Modern Law brand.

  • Build rapport quickly, listen actively, and help potential clients make confident decisions about hiring the firm.

  • Screen incoming calls to confirm the case falls within the firm's scope, while making every caller feel heard and understood.

  • Guide clients through scheduling consultations and completing intake forms.

  • Book consultations with our attorneys to expand our caseload and keep meeting schedules accurate.

Operations & Analysis

  • Track leads, consultations, and conversion rates using our CRM and intake software (Clio Grow, Acuity).

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to improve lead quality and follow-up systems.

  • Provide data insights and recommendations to management on what's working — and what's not.

  • Handle office tasks including email correspondence, document management, data organization, and research to keep the firm running at peak efficiency.

Qualifications:Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

  • Substantial familiarity with the Scottsdale area and its communities, along with an established local network or a demonstrated commitment to building one.

  • Outstanding communication skills and a real sense of empathy.

  • Previous customer service or sales experience preferred.

  • CRM and case management software experience is a plus.

  • Available to work full-time, in-office, at our Scottsdale location.
