Job description

Commercial Business Development Manager

In-Focus Systems | Greater Minneapolis–St. Paul Area | Full-Time

In-Focus Systems is looking for a Commercial Business Development Manager who excels at building relationships, creating opportunities, and positioning our team as a trusted partner within the commercial construction community.

We're looking for someone who knows—or knows how to get to know—the people shaping commercial construction throughout the Twin Cities: developers, builders, general contractors, architects, property owners, commercial real estate professionals, and other industry decision-makers.

This is a relationship-driven role. You don't need to be the most technical person in the room. You need to understand our capabilities, recognize where we can add value, and know how to bring the right people together to move an opportunity forward.

What You'll Own

Your primary responsibility is developing relationships that create qualified commercial opportunities for In-Focus Systems.

You'll:

  • Build meaningful relationships throughout the Twin Cities commercial construction and development community
  • Identify and develop new commercial business opportunities
  • Position In-Focus as a trusted technology partner with customers and industry partners
  • Develop relationships through meetings, industry events, networking, customer engagement, and other strategic business-development activities
  • Represent In-Focus within industry associations and the broader commercial construction community
  • Understand our capabilities well enough to recognize opportunities and communicate our value at a high level
  • Qualify opportunities and collaborate with our Commercial and technical teams to develop the right solutions
  • Stay engaged throughout the pursuit process to help move opportunities toward a successful close
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline of relationships, projects, opportunities, and follow-up activity
  • Develop accounts into repeat customers and long-term partnerships

What We're Looking For

The right person:

  • Is an exceptional relationship builder who knows how to connect with influential people and decision-makers
  • Is comfortable walking into a room where they don't know anyone—and leaving knowing several people
  • Is naturally curious about the commercial construction and development community
  • Enjoys networking, customer engagement, industry events, and creating opportunities to build relationships
  • Has the discipline and follow-through to turn relationships into qualified business opportunities
  • Has strong business judgment and understands which opportunities are worth pursuing
  • Works collaboratively and knows when to bring additional expertise into a conversation
  • Takes ownership of results and understands that successful business development ultimately needs to produce profitable revenue

Existing relationships within the Twin Cities commercial construction, development, architecture, commercial real estate, or general contracting communities would be highly valuable.

Experience in AV, low-voltage, automation, security, networking, or technology integration is helpful, but deep technical expertise is not required. We'll teach you what In-Focus can do.

We're more interested in whether you can build the relationships that create opportunities for us to do it.

Compensation & Resources

This position offers a competitive compensation package designed to reward both relationship development and business growth, including:

  • Annual base salary plus commission opportunities
  • Mileage reimbursement for business-related travel
  • A dedicated business development budget to support client engagement, networking, industry events, relationship-building activities, and new business development

In-Focus Systems believes great business development requires more than making phone calls. We provide the resources and support necessary to build meaningful relationships and create long-term business opportunities.

Why In-Focus Systems?

Since 2001, In-Focus Systems has designed and installed integrated technology systems throughout the Twin Cities, including audio/video, networking, lighting control, automation, security, surveillance, and other integrated building technologies.

You'll have an experienced Commercial team behind you and the resources to actively develop relationships throughout the market.

We're looking for someone who wants to become a recognized and trusted part of the Twin Cities commercial construction community—and turn those relationships into long-term business for In-Focus Systems.

Build relationships. Create opportunities. Grow the business.

If that sounds like you, we'd like to meet you.

Company Description

At In-Focus Systems, we're passionate about delivering exceptional experiences to our clients. As a leader in custom home technology, we believe that strong relationships are the foundation of long-term success. We're a small, team-oriented company where everyone pitches in, and we're looking for a Low Voltage Warehouse Assistant & Parts Runner who enjoys variety, staying active, and helping wherever needed. From organizing equipment and staging projects to making deliveries and supporting our field technicians, you'll play an important role in helping our team deliver an exceptional customer experience. This is not a traditional warehouse or forklift position—it's a hands-on role where everyone pitches in, no two days are exactly alike, and your work directly contributes to an exceptional customer experience.
