A Medium Voltage Business Development Manager drives sales growth for MV electrical products and services by developing sales strategies, identifying new market opportunities, building customer relationships with key accounts like Electrical Contractors and EPC firms, and collaborating with internal teams such as product marketing and sales. This position will cover Capital's entire footprint from Pennsylvania to Georgia.
Key responsibilities
  • Sales and business development: Prospect and close new business opportunities with electrical contractors, industrial facilities, renewable energy developers, and utility companies.
  • Customer relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing customers and key decision-makers.
  • Technical expertise: Act as a subject matter expert for the company's product line, which includes MV switchgear, switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, and other power distribution equipment.
  • Solution selling: Perform cost-benefit analyses and technical needs assessments to provide customized, value-added solutions for clients.
  • Strategic planning: Develop and execute strategic account plans to meet or exceed sales targets, revenue goals, and market share objectives.
  • Market intelligence: Monitor market trends, industry developments, and competitor offerings to identify new business opportunities.
  • Training and promotion: Educate and train team partners and customers on product features, benefits, and applications.

Required skills and qualifications
  • Experience:
    • 3-5+ years of experience in technical sales, with a focus on medium voltage power distribution products.
    • Experience selling to electrical contractors, utilities, large industrials or critical infrastructure segments (e.g., data centers) is highly desirable.
  • Education :
    • Preferred: Bachelor's in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Also considered:
      • Non-engineering degrees who meet the Technical Knowledge and Soft Skills
      • Licensed electricians and/or those with SCADA certification
  • Technical knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, power distribution principles, and related equipment.
    • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ANSI, IEEE) is a plus.
  • Soft skills:
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
    • Proven ability to build rapport and influence technical and executive-level stakeholders.
    • Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized.
    • Outgoing and able to easily connect with people.

Travel: Ability and willingness to travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
Location: This position may be located anywhere within Capital's operational region, covering southern Pennsylvania through northern Georgia.
Salary: $80,000 to $110,000 per year
