Job description

About the Role
At Designed Conveyor Systems (DCS), Business Development is more than lead generation. Our team identifies the companies, initiatives, and relationships that can become meaningful long-term partnerships. As a Client Development Representative (CDR), you will be on the front end of our growth strategy, researching target accounts, engaging prospective customers, uncovering business challenges, and creating qualified opportunities for our Sales, Consulting and Solutions teams.
You will work alongside experienced sales, marketing, consulting, and solution-development professionals while gaining exposure to some of the most innovative automation, distribution, and fulfillment operations in the market. This is an opportunity for someone who is curious, competitive, relationship-oriented, and interested in building a career in complex B2B sales.
What You'll Do
  • Develop new relationships and opportunities within strategically targeted accounts and markets.
  • Research prospective customers to understand their business, operations, growth initiatives, leadership, and potential supply chain or distribution challenges.
  • Use a combination of phone, email, LinkedIn, industry events, referrals, and digital intelligence to create meaningful conversations with prospective customers.
  • Engage executives and operational leaders with relevant, thoughtful outreach, not simply high-volume prospecting.
  • Identify and qualify potential opportunities based on business need, strategic fit, timing, decision-makers, and potential project requirements.
  • Partner closely with Sales to transition qualified opportunities and help create a seamless experience from initial conversation through discovery.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on account-based campaigns, messaging, events, market intelligence, and targeted outreach strategies.
  • Leverage tools such as Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, 6sense, and other sales-intelligence platforms to identify opportunities and manage engagement.
  • Maintain accurate and actionable information within our CRM, including contacts, account intelligence, activities, next steps, and opportunity development.
  • Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, customer events, and networking opportunities as a representative of DCS.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and developments affecting our customers.
  • Continuously test and improve messaging, outreach strategies, and prospecting approaches to increase engagement and qualified pipeline.

What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is not measured simply by the number of calls or emails you make.
You will be successful when you consistently:
  • Create meaningful engagement within high-value target accounts.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers and influencers.
  • Convert research and outreach into qualified business conversations.
  • Develop opportunities that advance into the Sales process.
  • Maintain strong CRM discipline and account intelligence.
  • Become knowledgeable enough about our customers and industry to have credible business conversations.
  • Contribute directly to a sustainable and predictable pipeline for DCS.

We're Excited About You Because
  • You have 2-4+ years of experience in business development, sales development, lead generation, account development, or another customer-facing B2B role.
  • You are naturally curious and enjoy learning how businesses operate and what drives their decisions.
  • You are comfortable initiating conversations with people you have never met and can build rapport quickly.
  • You communicate professionally and confidently by phone, email, LinkedIn, and in person.
  • You understand that great business development requires research, relevance, persistence, and follow-through.
  • You are competitive and goal-oriented but recognize that long-term relationships matter more than transactional wins.
  • You are organized and comfortable managing multiple accounts, contacts, conversations, and next steps simultaneously.
  • You embrace technology and are comfortable learning CRM, sales-intelligence, and prospecting platforms.
  • You are coachable, eager to learn, and motivated to build a long-term career in sales and business development.
  • You enjoy being part of a team and understand that the best opportunities are created when Business Development, Sales, Marketing, and Solutions work together.

Why DCS?
At DCS, you won't simply be handed a script and asked to make calls.
You will learn how sophisticated companies evaluate and invest in automation, distribution, fulfillment, software, and supply-chain solutions. You'll work alongside experienced professionals solving complex business problems and develop the skills required to grow into increasingly strategic sales and client-development roles.
If you want an opportunity where you can learn, compete, build relationships, create opportunities, and directly influence the growth of the business, we want to hear from you.
About Us:
