Job description

Business Development Representative โ€“ AEC Practice

Location: Broadview Heights, Ohio

Position Type: Full-Time

Travel: None

Practice Area: Architecture, Engineering and Construction

Position Summary

We are seeking a driven, entrepreneurial Business Development Rep to help continue the expansion of our Architecture, Engineering and Construction practice.

This is an opportunity for a competitive, relationship-oriented professional who wants to build a meaningful book of business, directly influence the growth of a practice and be financially rewarded for strong performance.

The Business Development Rep will identify prospective clients, develop relationships with decision-makers and create new business opportunities with companies throughout the architecture, engineering and construction industry. The successful candidate will manage the business development process from initial outreach through client engagement, while partnering closely with internal team members to deliver an exceptional client experience.

This role is based in our Broadview Heights, Ohio office and requires no travel.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the architecture, engineering and construction industry.
  • Develop relationships with company owners, executives, human resources leaders, operations leaders and other key decision-makers.
  • Conduct consistent outbound business development through phone calls, email, professional networking, referrals and other prospecting channels.
  • Learn each prospective clientโ€™s business, organizational structure, challenges and growth plans.
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand client needs and identify opportunities for the firm to provide value.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients and active business opportunities.
  • Manage the sales process from initial outreach and qualification through proposal, negotiation and close.
  • Develop long-term client relationships that produce repeat business, referrals and account growth.
  • Partner with internal recruiting, delivery and practice leadership teams to ensure client expectations are clearly communicated and successfully met.
  • Monitor developments and trends throughout the architecture, engineering and construction market.

You Will Thrive in This Role If You

  • Enjoy building relationships and earning the trust of business leaders.
  • Are naturally competitive and motivated by measurable goals.
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and want to help build something rather than simply maintain an existing territory.
  • Are comfortable initiating conversations with people you have not met.
  • Are persistent, resilient and able to remain focused when facing rejection.
  • Take ownership of your results and do not need to be closely managed.
  • Are motivated by financial incentives and the opportunity to directly influence your earning potential.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, performance-oriented environment.
  • Want significant professional growth and the opportunity to earn greater responsibility over time.
  • Are interested in a long-term career path that may include leadership and future partnership consideration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to five years of experience in sales, business development, account management, recruiting, professional services or a related client-facing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and generate new business opportunities.
  • Experience with outbound prospecting, lead generation or new-account development.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with company owners, executives and senior business leaders.
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn the architecture, engineering and construction market.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position will be measured by the ability to:

  • Consistently develop qualified new-business opportunities.
  • Establish relationships with decision-makers throughout the AEC industry.
  • Convert prospective clients into active customers.
  • Develop a healthy and predictable sales pipeline.
  • Generate new revenue and expand existing client relationships.
  • Build a reputation as a knowledgeable and trusted industry resource.
  • Create repeat business through strong communication and client service.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal team members.
  • Demonstrate the leadership, judgment and business-building ability required for future advancement.

Why Join Us?

Significant Growth Opportunity

This position offers the opportunity to grow alongside an expanding practice. Successful performance can lead to broader account responsibility, leadership opportunities and increased involvement in the strategic direction of the business.

Future Partnership Potential

For the right individual, this is more than a traditional sales position. Someone who consistently builds revenue, develops lasting client relationships, demonstrates leadership and creates sustainable value for the firm may have the opportunity to be considered for future partnership.

Partnership is not automatic or guaranteed. It is a potential long-term path for individuals who make a significant and lasting contribution to the growth of the organization.

Financially Rewarding Environment

Performance matters and strong results are recognized. The role is designed for someone who is motivated by financial incentives and wants a direct connection between individual performance, business impact and earning potential.

Ability to Build Your Own Market

You will have the opportunity to develop relationships and build a client base within the architecture, engineering and construction industry. Your ideas, activity and execution will directly influence the success of the practice.

High Visibility and Direct Impact

This is not a position where your work disappears inside a large corporate structure. You will work closely with practice leadership, have visibility into the business and be able to see the direct results of the relationships and revenue you create.

No Travel Required

The position is based in Broadview Heights, Ohio, and does not require travel. You can build a successful client base and pursue meaningful financial and career growth without spending time away from home.
