Job description

Company Overview

Every firm has a culture - the values, beliefs, methodology, attitudes and standards that reflect an organization's DNA. But the truly inspiring firms - the game-changers, the industry leaders and the disruptors - have cultures that propel them to innovate and stand out. At Brown Advisory, we aim to be one of those inspired firms. Over the years, we have purposefully built and nurtured our client-first culture.

Brown Advisory is an independent investment management and strategic advisory firm committed to delivering a combination of first-class performance, strategic advice and the highest level of client service. The firm's clients-including individuals, families, family offices, endowments, foundations, charities, institutions, consultants, and financial intermediaries-are served by over 1,000 colleagues worldwide, all of whom are equity owners of the firm.

Brown Advisory is seeking a Business Development Associate to join the U.S. Institutional Sales team. This individual will partner closely with Regional Investment Consultants to support business development efforts and cultivate relationships across the East Coast, with a focus on manager research teams within Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), private banks, and large broker-dealer advisory teams. In this role, the Business Development Associate will contribute to pipeline development, sales process coordination, operational efficiency, and the effective positioning of Brown Advisory investment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Regional Investment Consultants within assigned territories to identify prospective clients and develop a diversified pipeline through disciplined, process-oriented prospecting.

  • Support achievement of sales and activity objectives established by team leadership.

  • Execute the established client service model to help ensure clients remain informed on firm developments and investment performance updates.

  • Promote consistent, organized use of Salesforce across the team to support business development and relationship management efforts.

  • Travel periodically with members of the sales team to participate in in-person meetings and business development activities.

  • Assist the sales team in developing target prospect lists for RIAs and broker-dealers within assigned territories, primarily along the East Coast.

  • Work across internal data systems to support client and prospect data management.

  • Coordinate portfolio manager travel for U.S. Institutional Sales team roadshows and related meetings.

  • Maintain pipeline activity, business development opportunities, and contact records in Salesforce while helping reconcile data across multiple systems.

  • Generate monthly activity and asset reports through Salesforce for territory-level management and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree and/or CFA designation preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of experience within asset management or a related financial services environment.

  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to work.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience maintaining accurate documentation in a client relationship management (CRM) system.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Ability to work from an office location and travel as business needs require.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization (e.g., H-1B , O-1, F-1 (OPT), TN, or any other non-immigrant visa classifications that require employer support or sponsorship).
