Job description

Public Assistance Specialist / Client Service Representative
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Papago Park Military Reservation)
Local Candidates Only

The Arizona Division of Emergency Management (AZDEMA) is seeking a Public Assistance Specialist / Client Service Representative to support disaster recovery programs and public assistance initiatives. This role is responsible for conducting damage assessments, assisting applicants with state and federal disaster assistance applications, preparing project documentation, performing site inspections, managing client relationships, and providing training and presentations related to Public Assistance programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of client service/customer service and account management experience
  • Must be a local Phoenix, AZ candidate at the time of submission
  • Must be available for in-person interviews within one week of posting close
  • Must be able to start within two weeks of an offer
  • Resume must clearly state the candidate's current location

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher
  • Experience teaching or instructing adult-level classes
  • Public speaking, staff training, workshop facilitation, or Public Assistance/FEMA-related experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preliminary disaster damage assessments and inspections
  • Assist applicants with Public Assistance applications and documentation
  • Prepare project worksheets and recovery program documentation
  • Review costs, inspect completed projects, and validate work performed
  • Conduct training sessions and presentations
  • Support emergency operations activations, including 24/7 disaster response when required
