A Glimpse of the Job

The Clery Compliance Officer I, under the direction of the Clery Compliance Officer III, performs services to implement, administer, and maintain the University's Clery Act compliance program. The position collects and analyzes compliance-related data, identifies and resolves compliance issues in collaboration with campus stakeholders, and implements best practices to enhance institutional accountability.

Essential Duties

Data Analysis and Review

  • Reviews and analyzes Clery Act-related data for accuracy and completeness, including campus security authority rosters, geographic property classifications, related contracts and agreements, and crime and fire log records

  • Develops opportunities to improve data collection accuracy, enhance review processes, and increase the frequency of compliance monitoring activities

  • Maintains accurate and current documentation supporting Clery Act compliance efforts and institutional disclosures

Clery Compliance Support and Facilitation

  • Assists in developing, establishing, and maintaining an effective Clery Act compliance program based upon applicable federal laws, regulations, and University policies

  • Monitors and facilitates compliance with the Clery Act, including crime reporting, geographic property classifications, and campus security authority responsibilities

  • Identifies potential areas of Clery Act compliance vulnerability and develops corrective action plans to address deficiencies

  • Responds to apparent violations of Clery Act requirements and related policies by recommending and assisting with investigative and corrective procedures

  • Works with campus stakeholders, including security personnel, student affairs staff, and administrative leadership, to identify and resolve Clery Act compliance issues and enhance program effectiveness

  • Recommends program guidelines, procedures, policies, and regulations to strengthen Clery Act compliance

  • Provides regular reports on Clery compliance efforts and institutional compliance status as needed; serves on committees and working groups as assigned

Additional Risk, Ethics and Compliance Activities

  • Supports internal audits and reviews by gathering information, coordinating responses, and tracking corrective action plan implementation

  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of the University's risk, ethics, and compliance program by assisting in the development and refinement of resources, guidelines, policies, and procedures

Salary: $75,000 annually

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Four years of related experience

  • Experience in higher education and compliance environments

  • Experience interpreting federal regulations and contracts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to evaluate and manage highly sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify core issues within complex situations

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
