Job description

True Classic is looking for an AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications and workflows that solve real business problems across the company. In this hands-on, execution-focused role, you will work cross-functionally to integrate AI into how we acquire customers, maximize lifetime value, and streamline operations.

You'll thrive here if you're a problem solver first—someone who would rather ship solutions than wait on specs or build slide decks. You're comfortable writing clean, production-ready code, moving quickly, and turning ambiguous problems into real, working systems that drive impact.

All True Classic roles are global and omni-channel, driving accountability across product categories, regions, and sales/marketing channels. This role will allow you to impact operations worldwide, ensuring alignment with our business objectives and delivering success across diverse markets and platforms.

What You Will Do

  • Design and develop AI-powered applications, tools, and workflows that address high-leverage True Classic business problems
  • Build AI agents, automation pipelines, and LLM-powered features across acquisition, retention, and operations
  • Implement and integrate RESTful APIs for efficient, secure data access and exchange across our tech stack
  • Write clean, maintainable, production-quality code across Python, React, Node.js, and other relevant frameworks
  • Deploy and manage applications on AWS and other cloud platforms using modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Partner with marketing, finance, operations, and commercial teams to solve their hardest problems
  • Perform code reviews, enforce best practices, and drive continuous improvement
  • Evaluate and implement AI tools that fit our stack — and stay at the frontier to bring new capabilities in

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Marketing: AI-powered acquisition, creative testing, audience targeting, and lifecycle tools
  • eCommerce & Product: Personalization, search, merchandising, and conversion optimization
  • Operations: Automation of high-friction workflows across supply chain and fulfillment
  • Finance & BI: Connect AI initiatives to revenue, margin, and efficiency KPIs
  • Commercial Channels: Solutions that work across DTC, wholesale, marketplace, and international

Qualifications

  • Professional experience in AI engineering or software development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong expertise in AI prompting, engineering workflows, and working with LLMs (Claude, OpenAI, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Python, React, Node.js, Express.js — SQL/PostgreSQL a plus
  • Hands-on experience with cloud and DevOps: AWS, Heroku, GitHub CI/CD
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and implementation
  • Systems thinker who can architect end-to-end solutions, not just point fixes
  • Creative, tenacious, and hungry — thrives in ambiguity and moves with urgency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a DTC, e-commerce, or consumer brand
  • Familiarity with our stack: Meta, Google, TikTok, Klaviyo, Triple Whale, Shopify
  • Experience with prompt engineering best practices for AI-driven workflows
  • Track record deploying scalable AI solutions in production environments

Workplace Arrangment

On-site (5x week in our Calabasas, CA office). We are open to candidates relocating to the Calabasas area for this role; however, True Classic does not provide relocation assistance.

Why True Classic

  • One of the fastest-growing consumer brands in the world — and we are just getting started
  • AI-native from the top down: leadership is personally invested in AI transformation
  • Industry-leading, innovative work you will not find inside most consumer brands

  • Real impact — your work shapes the experience of millions of customers worldwide
  • Human, work-friendly environment where great people do their best work

Compensation

  • $75k-$85k + bonus
