Job description

HPL Apollo is seeking a dedicated Class B Driver to join our perishable freight forwarding team. This role is crucial for the timely and safe transportation of perishable goods, ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations, and maintaining the integrity and quality of our shipments. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of safety, be highly reliable, and possess excellent time management skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class B vehicles over assigned routes, adhering to all company policies and legal regulations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of perishable goods, maintaining strict adherence to delivery schedules to prevent spoilage.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions to management.
  • Manage and maintain accurate logs of driving times, rest periods, and vehicle service entries in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate closely with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure proper loading and unloading of freight, emphasizing the special handling needs of perishable items.
  • Employ temperature-controlled transport techniques and monitor conditions to ensure product freshness and quality throughout transit.
  • Address and resolve any issues during transit, communicating effectively with dispatch and management to find solutions.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading process when necessary, ensuring goods are handled correctly to minimize damage.
  • Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training to enhance driving skills and industry knowledge.
  • Provide excellent customer service during delivery, always representing HPL Apollo professionally.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid Hawaii Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B
  • Clean driving record with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen in accordance with DOT regulations
  • 2+ years of commercial driving experience preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical job duties as required
