Job description

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Required: ET&D or Civil Safety: 5-10 years
Key Duties:
  • Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
  • Conduct safety inspections, observations, investigations and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DOT
  • Communicates, coaches and trains crews on the current HSE work practices and rules, policies and procedures.
  • Prepares reports for management team reviews on observations pertaining to work activities, investigations, employee injuries/property/utility damage incidents.
  • Enforce OSH (occ. safety & health) policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
  • Coordinate drug screening (Randoms (DOT & NON), post-accident, reasonable suspicion)
  • Direct accident investigation procedures
  • Keep detailed records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
  • Keep Safety databases up to date with current information as clients require. ISnet, Veriforce, and Avatta to name a few.
  • Complete any safety pre-qualifications required by potential clients
  • Communicate daily with Gridtech senior personnel, superintendents on safety needs/requirements
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
  • Liaise with and report to PGS Safety Director on OSH matters
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills:
  • Proven experience as safety specialist in the power construction industry
  • In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices
  • Experience in reporting and developing policies
  • OSHA 30 Training
  • CUSP certification, or must be able to attain within 6 months of hire date
  • Experience in implementing OSH training programs
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills
  • Diligent with an analytical mind
  • BSc/Ba in business administration, Safety or relevant field
  • MVR qualifies individual to be an approved company driver
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen

Working Conditions
  • Office/Field 50% travel may be required
