Each of the more than 500 staff who work in the Office of the Attorney General are dedicated to serving all Delawareans with integrity and passion.\r\nDeputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.\r\n
Summary Statement
The Department of Justice, Administrative Division, is recruiting for a Human Resource Advisor I (Merit Comparable job classification) position in New Castle County.\r\nThe selected candidate will assist with a variety of general human resources functions, provide support for HR-related administrative operations, and assist with personnel records management and other department-wide HR initiatives. Working under the guidance of experienced HR professionals, the selected candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience while supporting the Department's day-to-day human resources operations.\r\nThis is a Casual/Seasonal position, currently approved to work up to 37.5 hours per week. Compensation is based on an hourly rate and is paid only for hours worked. This position is not eligible for State pension benefits, health insurance, or other State employee benefits.\r\n

Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed.\r\n\r\n\r\n Provides guidance, direction and recommendations to employees, management and others based on findings, rules, regulations, policies, guidelines and precedents that impact assigned area of human resources.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Depending on the size of an assigned agency and operations, employees perform professional human resource work specializing in one or more human resource functions or perform professional human resource work as a generalist for all human resource functions of one or more assigned agencies.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Applies, explains, and ensures compliance with state and federal human resource laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Analyzes inquiries, needs and challenges; assesses organizational impact; evaluates alternatives/options and makes recommendations.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Explains and supports human resource related actions and recommendations.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Reports workplace risk management issues to leadership (e.g., safety, health).\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Researches, collects, analyzes and evaluates data and information from a variety of sources and documents findings in narrative and statistical reports.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Utilizes automated human resources information systems or other computerized systems to research and report on data; may perform quality reviews of data in systems.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Conducts special assignments and studies.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Participates in interviews, meetings, conference calls and/or presentations.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n May calculate, resolve discrepancies and report on data for an agency's payroll.\r\n\r\n
Job Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Human Resource Advisor I\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n\r\n1. Applicants must possess at least one of the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher.\r\n\r\n\r\n OR\r\n\r\n\r\n One year of professional human resource experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n OR\r\n\r\n\r\n Two years' experience in performing paraprofessional or administrative support work for a human resource function. A Statewide Human Resource Certification or professional human resource certification may substitute for one year of experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n
