Vice President of Geotechnical Engineering

Delta Oaks Group

Raleigh, NC โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 9 days ago

Job description

Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to lead its Geotechnical Engineering services in the telecommunication, energy, utility, and commercial sectors. The ideal candidate will strategically complement existing leadership and better position Delta Oaks Group for its next phase of growth through the strengthening of current industry contacts, recruitment efforts, technical breadth, operational strategy, and business acumen. This is an opportunity to join the executive team of an established turn-key engineering firm that has generated 50% revenue and 60% profit growth over the past 3 years while maintaining above-industry standard profit margins and increasing head count by 100% over that same time frame.

If you are an aspiring or current executive seeking an exciting opportunity to elevate your career by personally tailoring the further development of a Geotechnical Engineering group without the constraints often associated with larger firms, but with minimized risks of an established company that features a consistent client base, a team of talented engineers, supporting operational and production processes and proven deliverables, please review the details below and consider applying.

About the Company
Delta Oaks Group is a multi-discipline Engineering and Inspections firm focusing on civil infrastructure in the telecommunications, energy, utility, and commercial industries. We are founded on the core belief that the Company’s success is only achieved through focusing on the two most important assets of the technical service business: our clients and our employees.

As a leader in exceptional technical service, we aim to employ unique talent that possesses the willingness and ability to seek and comprehend our clients’ needs while consistently exhibiting unrelenting attention to detail and a desire to settle for nothing but the best. This philosophy is coupled with our commitment to providing superior client service founded on unmatched client responsiveness, transparency, and client-tailored managerial systems and communication protocols.
Vice President of Geotechnical Engineering
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an extremely talented, growth-oriented leader to guide our Geotechnical Engineering Department into its next phase of growth. The Vice President role is critical for The Company’s future, and we are seeking a candidate with a special combination of technical expertise, business development skills, and a passion for leadership and entrepreneurial growth. This role is ideally suited for an aspiring or current executive capable of using their experience, business acumen, management abilities, and industry contacts to guide a team of talented engineers to an expanded level of success.

VP Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the fiscal responsibility and sound financial management of their department through developing, recognizing, and implementing practices that increase revenues and decrease costs as well as driving revenue generation through client development and retention.
  • Evaluate existing workflows and processes and determine which require documentation, cross-training, redesign, or automation.
  • Maximize utilization of existing resources, equipment, and personnel, making changes as necessary
  • Lead the formulation and implementation of a strategic plan that guides the direction of the department and achieves the department’s financial initiatives.
  • Review and track departmental financial performance and budgets, including the communication and resolution of significant variances as well as the authorization of budget expenditures.
  • Recruit, manage, and retain department personnel, including ensuring that their team has the right processes and tools to be successful.
  • Manage department personnel and lead them to success through the implementation of innovative and efficient procedures and processes.
  • Oversee the development of standard operating procedures for Geotechnical Engineering services.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for department personnel.
  • Perform quality inspection of department deliverables, providing coaching/training to teams as necessary to improve delivered product.
  • Contribute to the sales and profitability of the business through strategic business development.
  • Develop client relationships, client retention practices, and grow/maintain revenue streams.
  • Maintain awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards.
The selected individual will be expected to have a thorough understanding of Geotechnical Engineering services, particularly in the telecommunications and/or energy sector, including how they contribute to and affect the successful delivery of a turn-key end product from both a technical and scheduling standpoint. Due to the nature and limited timelines of most projects, the selected candidate must be willing and capable of exhibiting the work ethic, interpersonal communication, and sociability skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment where timely, professional, and effective communication with co-workers, clients and strategic partners is paramount.

Computer Software Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and advanced Excel functions is required
  • Experience with gINT, SHAFT, and LPile is preferred.
