Mackin Engineers & Consultants is seeking a motivated and collaborative Civil Engineer who is interested in expanding their experience in water-focused civil engineering while working on diverse land development, recreation, and public infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for engineers with a background in site design, transportation, or general civil engineering who want to deepen their understanding of stormwater management, drainage, and sustainable water systems.

Working under the guidance of the Land Development Practice Lead and alongside experienced water resources professionals, you'll contribute to projects that support resilient communities-parks, trails, streetscapes, and municipal infrastructure-while building practical, in-demand skills in grading, stormwater, erosion control, and permitting. Mackin offers a supportive environment where curiosity, mentorship, and professional growth are encouraged.

  • Analyze site conditions such as topography, soils, and drainage patterns to inform design decisions
  • Develop grading plans, stormwater facilities, erosion and sediment control plans, and utility layouts
  • Collaborate with structural engineers, landscape architects, planners, and water resources specialists on integrated project teams
  • Assist with construction cost estimates, specifications, and quantity takeoffs
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, and field coordination as projects move into construction
  • Support proposal development and contribute technical input to new project pursuits
  • Review drawings and calculations for accuracy and consistency with engineering standards
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, technical learning, and firmwide initiatives

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Approximately 2+ years of experience in civil engineering, site design, transportation, or related fields
  • Interest in learning or expanding skills in stormwater, drainage, and water-related design
  • EIT certification preferred; PE licensure (PA or surrounding states) is a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD and civil design software; exposure to StormCAD, HydroCAD, or similar tools is beneficial but not required
  • Familiarity with standard civil engineering practices, permitting processes, and construction documentation
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, learn new technical concepts, and contribute to team success
  • A desire to work on projects that positively impact communities and the environmen
