ENGINEERING - CIVIL ENGINEER V
JOB DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY
Licensed professional engineer with sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Able to make decisions independently on problems and methods with minimal supervision and guidance generally related to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters. Higher salary range will be based on satisfactory performance at the Civil Engineer V level.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities (but are not limited to):
  • Perform independent on projects assigned by Project Manager/Principal. Complexity and difficulty of projects is dependent upon level of experience. Expected to perform on entire project in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Supervise lower tiered engineers as necessary.
  • Prepare design analysis and calculations as directed by Project Manager/Principal.
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports, and coordinate approval signatures from governmental review agencies.
  • Communicate with vendors, governmental review agencies, subconsultants and clients.
  • Prepare scopes of work and fee proposals as directed by Project Manager/Principal.
  • Maintain project files.
  • With some supervision, prepare billings for invoicing clients.
  • Perform research and gathering of information from governmental agencies.
  • Perform services during construction. Understands the technical specifications, special provisions, and general conditions. Able to review shop drawings, change orders, prepare post-contract documents, perform construction observation, attend weekly progress meetings, and prepare record drawings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelorโ€™s degree in civil engineering.
  • Must have a Professional Engineers License in the State of Hawaii or reciprocal equivalent or related experience.
  • Must have satisfactory performance at the Civil Engineer IV level.
  • Able to read plans and specifications.
  • Have full understanding of engineering problems and be able to apply sound engineering
  • principles, practices and judgments in solving such problems.
  • Able to communicate well verbally and written with peers, supervisors, clients, and other stakeholders, consultants, etc. Team player.
  • Able to complete projects independently on time and within budget.
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
