Civil Construction Laborer
Position Summary:
Alamon, Inc., a Montana-based employee-owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. There is no ceiling when it comes to your professional growth at Alamon, an employee – owned company.
Alamon, Inc. seeks a Civil Construction Laborer for its Wireless Service department.
This position entails: Playing a vital role in preparing job sites, which includes cleaning, loading, and unloading materials, and removing potential hazards. This position requires the operation of specific types of equipment as needed. The laborer will work under the supervision of the Civil Construction Labor Foreman and should possess knowledge and experience in concrete removal, cutting, excavation, conduit placement, as well as concrete installation and finishing. Responsibilities also include above and below ground conduit installation and trenching work when required. Additionally, the laborer will collaborate with tower crews to install radio access equipment at communication sites. Class A Drivers License is required.

Job Description:
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, forklifts, skid loaders, and other tools as directed by the supervisor and follow detailed instructions from the supervisor.
  • Ready to learn from on - the- job training when necessary.
  • Digging trenches, compacting earth, and backfilling holes.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing, and properly disposing of debris and waste materials.
  • Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including asphalt and dirt.
  • Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site daily.
  • Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.
  • Travel out of town to work on remote job sites as directed by management.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Applicants are required to pass a pre- employment drug test, submit to a background check, and adhere to all OSHA, state, city / municipality safety requirements.
  • Must have a clean driving record with no DUI / DWI in the last 5 years.
  • Ability to travel out of town during the week or on weekends.
  • Ability to lift and utilize heavy equipment safely.
  • Able to lift 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to keep up with the physical demands of the job.
  • Must be comfortable with working at heights up to 500 feet.
Work Environment:
  • This position will work outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions, and on varying terrain. May work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, odors, gasses, vapors, wet or slick surfaces, and loud noises is possible.
  • Must always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
Physical Demands:
  • This is a physically arduous position that requires working outside in varying weather types and exposure to the elements.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75lbs.
  • Must be willing to work either day or night shifts when necessary.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel will be required based on the needs of the project.
  • Transportation and lodging are provided while traveling and working out of town for the Company.
Education and Experience:
  • Highschool Diploma or GED Preferred
  • Conduit installation and pipe bending for EMT, rigid, and PVC conduit.
  • Understand local code requirements for work.
  • Five or more years of experience in construction.
