About Embergrove Hospitality

Embergrove Hospitality is an independent, nimble, and gritty hospitality management company that proudly oversees 12 distinctive hotel locations, along with several bars and restaurants across the Midwest. Rooted in genuine, from-the-heart hospitality, our team blends ingenuity, transparency, and hard work to deliver memorable guest experiences and strong business results.

With deep Midwestern roots and a hands-on approach, Embergrove manages every property with an entrepreneurial spirit—combining creative strategy, disciplined revenue management, and in-house marketing expertise. From boutique hotels to full-service properties, each location reflects our belief that exceptional hospitality starts with authentic people, thoughtful service, and relentless dedication to excellence.

We’re Growing

Embergrove Hospitality is expanding our portfolio and actively looking to grow our team of General Managers across our markets. If we operate in a city you’d love to call home, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line and let’s explore what opportunities may be available now—or coming soon.

About the Role

The General Manager serves as the key on-property leader, responsible for overseeing all operational and financial aspects of the hotel. This role requires strategic leadership across sales, revenue management, food and beverage operations, and overall cost control to ensure sustainable growth and profitability.

The General Manager drives corporate and group sales initiatives while maintaining disciplined expense management, including food and beverage cost controls. This leader is accountable for full P&L performance, development of incentive programs, and cultivating a high-performance culture through strong people leadership.

Above all, the General Manager is responsible for delivering operational excellence, exceptional guest experiences, and strong financial results.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality general management or corporate sales
  • Proven track record of managing P&L statements and controlling operational costs
  • Demonstrated expertise in team leadership and incentive program development
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations and cost control practices

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related discipline
  • Experience managing multi-unit hospitality operations
  • Advanced corporate sales and client relationship management experience
  • Hospitality or project management certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Experience within a growing management company or multi-property portfolio

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage daily operations across all departments including sales, front office, housekeeping, and food & beverage
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive corporate, group, and project-based revenue growth
  • Monitor and control food costs and operational expenses to maximize profitability
  • Oversee full P&L management, analyze financial performance, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Design and implement employee incentive programs to motivate teams and improve results
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop management and staff to build a strong, service-driven culture
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, industry regulations, and company policies
  • Partner with senior leadership to align property-level strategies with long-term company goals

Benefits

We value our leaders and offer a competitive benefits package, including:

  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Employee discounts

Skills & Leadership Traits

The ideal General Manager is an entrepreneurial leader who thrives in a hands-on environment. Strong people leadership skills are essential to inspire teams and foster accountability. Sales acumen and revenue-driving expertise are critical to expanding market presence and growing top-line performance. Financial discipline, including food cost and expense management, ensures healthy margins and long-term sustainability.

This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and operational execution—someone who can see the big picture while staying deeply engaged in daily operations.

If you’re a driven hospitality leader looking to grow with a dynamic and expanding company—and we’re in a city you’d love to live in—we encourage you to reach out. Let’s start the conversation.
