Job description

We are currently seeking Advisory Supervisors to join our firm. Advisory Supervisors retain the same responsibilities and functions as an Advisory Senior, while developing more extensive review functions, scheduling responsibilities, and increased involvement with the client. Accordingly, Advisory Supervisors often function in the same capacity as an Advisory Senior but may also assume several Advisory Manager responsibilities.

Qualifications:
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, and/or an undergraduate or graduate degree with sufficient coursework to qualify to become licensed as a CPA
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting
  • Government and non-profit experience preferred
  • CPA preferred, other relevant certifications (e.g., CGFM, CFE, CITP) encouraged
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, time management, and research skills

Responsibilities:
  • Develop people through effectively delegating tasks and providing guidance to staff
  • Provide performance feedback and training, and complete performance evaluations for staff and senior levels

  • Direct daily work on client accounting and advisory engagements; inform supervisors of the engagement status; plan, coordinate, and supervise the various phases of advisory engagements
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with client management and assess client satisfaction
  • Understand the client's operations, financial reporting requirements, and advisory needs; adapt the service approach to the changing client environment
  • Participate in and/or lead client accounting and advisory projects, such as accounting assistance, financial statement and audit preparation, internal control assessments, policy and procedure development, budgeting/forecasting support, cash flow analysis, etc.
  • Prepare or review client financial statements, management reports, dashboards, and other required deliverables, and meet client deadlines provided by the client and firm supervisors
  • Identify operational and process improvements for suggestions to clients
  • Identify risks or issues that should be brought to the attention of the Advisory Manager, Senior Advisory Manager, Principal, or Partner
  • Review and evaluate staff work, financial statements, and other reports, ensuring compliance with professional standards and firm policy
  • Continue to improve public speaking and presentation skills; look for opportunities to promote the firm's reputation through participation and presentation at seminars
  • Manage overtime effectively to complete assigned tasks through collaboration with the engagement team
  • Collaborate to plan engagement objectives and a service strategy that complies with professional standards and appropriately addresses client needs
  • Attend and begin assisting in the presentation of client financial statements, engagement results, and deliverables to client leadership, boards, and committees
  • Represent the firm through involvement in professional, recruiting, charitable, and/or civic events and organizations
  • Responsible for billing, as determined in conjunction with the engagement partner or principal
  • Actively work towards passing the CPA exam and/or obtaining other relevant professional certifications (e.g., CGFM, CFE, CITP) as appropriate
