LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 261 days WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt DATE REVISED SEPT 24, 2017     SALARY RANGE: $15.61   Minimum

PAY GRADE: AU2              


PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate or GED preferred
Must have at least 3 years' experience in the custodial field Ability to organize and schedule 
custodial personnel Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions Dependable, honest, and cooperative
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  Responsible to maintain all buildings in a clean and orderly condition.
  Responsible to maintain security in school building in accordance to school policy procedures.
  Responsible to assign custodial personnel to sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or dust floor in classrooms, offices, restrooms, storage areas, hallways, auditorium, gymnasium, and other areas of the school.
  Responsible to assign custodial personnel to strip floor surfaces of wax or other protective coating and apply new wax or a protective wax.
  Assist lead custodian in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and materials.
  Responsible to maintain and to update Material Safety Data Sheets.
  Responsible to report to the lead custodian work and repairs that needs to be done.
  Responsible to assign work schedules and areas of responsibility to custodial personnel.
  Responsible to see that all custodial equipment is maintained properly and safely.
  Responsible for keeping a log of overtime earned by custodial personnel.
  Responsible to report to lead custodian injuries, absences, misconduct and other infractions that may occur to custodial personnel.
  Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
  Performs other related duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED:
  Vacuum cleaner, buffing machines, burnishers, wet/dry vacuums, lawn mower, small power tools, 
custodial hand tools (mops, brooms, brushes etc.)
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
  Strenuous walking, standing, stooping, and/or climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, working 
inside and outside. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals, 
working on ladder, working on slippery surfaces
