Job Description

The Cisco Design Engineer serves as a partner with our Account Executives in a technical role within our Engineering department. The SA's primary role is to seek out and analyze customer business needs within the commercial and enterprise customers then go to market and match those to the company's technical capabilities. Engaging consultatively, the Designer will showcase the company's architectural advantage by designing and configuring technical solutions to meet customer goals, explaining and demonstrating features and benefits.

 Duties and responsibilities for the Designer include:

  • Manage direct customer and partner relationships for the assigned account
  • Assist with the development of formal plans and proposals for assigned opportunities
  • Provide technical and consultative support (which could also include sales support)
  • Perform technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects
  • Work with technology teams to bring new products and technologies to company
  • Maintain expertise in relevant competitive solutions, products and services
  • Actively participate as a subject expert on assigned Virtual Teams and provide consultative support in their area of specialization to other SA's and System Engineers
Qualifications

In addition to technological aptitude and the ability to learn quickly and stay current, the ideal candidate's interpersonal, presentation and troubleshooting skills evoke passion and confidence.

  • Cisco product knowledge is a must
  • Bachelor-level relevant educational qualification or equivalent
  • CCIE certification highly desirable (not mandatory) 
  • In-depth knowledge and strong operating experience in more than one of the following areas of specialization: Service Provider technologies, Multi-Service (Voice and Video), Enterprise routing/switching, Collaboration (Unified Communications), Virtualization (Data Center), Security, Wireless
  • Knowledge of relevant solution sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications.
  • Competitive knowledge (in their area of specialization) including solution, technology and product offerings.
  • Understanding and ability to articulate company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently able to add value as a team member

  • 7+ years-related industry experience
