Cisco Wireless/ISE Engineer
Location: Tampa, Florida (very minimal on-site in Tampa area)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Cisco Wireless/ISE Engineer to provide daily support in the execution of design, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of our systems and related infrastructure technology. This role focuses on being an expert in WiFi and Cisco ISE, handling constant upgrades, and ensuring optimal performance is maintained across the production infrastructure. This position is primarily remote with minimal on-site requirements for tasks such as location walkthroughs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform constant weekly code upgrades and updates for wireless controllers.
  • Conduct WiFi audits using tools like Ekahau to determine coverage needs for new sites.
  • Manage and audit the Catalyst Center, where ISE is run, to track devices for security purposes.
  • Implement solutions based on business requirements and IT strategies, with a focus on LAN/WAN/WLAN design and administration.
  • Provide system maintenance, monitoring, disaster recovery, business continuity, and problem resolution.
  • Execute technical road-maps, designs, and testing plans for the introduction of new infrastructure technology.
  • Ensure proper documentation is created to assist in support of all information technology operations.
  • Perform knowledge transfer sessions and mentor other team members.
  • Handle system changes, which typically occur during evening hours (e.g., Thursday/Friday from 8p-12a).
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Healthcare, or a related field is required. An Associate's degree with an additional four years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma with an additional five years of relevant experience, may be considered.
Experience: A minimum of five years of proficiency in a systems/infrastructure engineering or technical support role is required.
Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in Cisco ISE and Cisco WiFi, including controllers and access points.
  • Proficiency with wireless technologies, mobile presence, and identifying required settings for roaming.
  • Cybersecurity technologies, specializing in NAC (Cisco ISE) and Palo Alto NGFWs.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN/SDN technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco WiFi Certification
  • Cisco ISE experience + another Cisco certification
  • Experience conducting WiFi surveys
