Job description

SS Charles and Helena Parish in Clio is seeking a person to clean the Church. This position reports to the Pastor and is part-time (12 hours per week) / 52 weeks per year.
Major Responsibility: Cleaning of the Church which includes: Main Church, day chapel, gathering spaces, music office, both sacristies, bathrooms, entrances, confessional, prayer room and usher's room.
Primary Functions:
1. Weekly
  • Worship Space (Church & Day Chapel): Straighten chairs and books, remove trash, vacuum floor (mop when necessary).
  • Gathering Space: Vacuum floor, straighten chairs, dust statues and window sills, clean windows.
  • Choir Room/Music Office: Vacuum and dust floors, remove trash bags and replace, thorough cleaning in bathroom, refill soap and keep toilet paper on hand, dust furniture.
  • Both Vesting Rooms: Vacuum or sweep floors, dust furniture, remove/replace trash bags, clean sink, thorough cleaning in bathroom, mop when needed.
  • Prayer Room: Wipe and disinfect chairs and kneelers, vacuum floor, dust statues, remove spider webs.
  • Confessional: Vacuum, dust, wipe and disinfect chairs and kneelers, remove spider webs.
  • Public Restrooms: Thorough cleaning, remove trash, mop floor, clean mirrors, replace paper products, toilet paper, soap, trash bags.
  • Main Entrances: Vacuum rugs, mop, dust pews, clean all doors (both sides).

2. Monthly
  • Windows: Especially those on entrance of main body of worship space.
  • Usher's Room: Remove trash, vacuum floor, wipe counters, dust, etc.
  • Sacristy: Clean floor, vacuum rugs, dust tabernacle and stand, chairs, ambo, altar, etc.

3. Quarterly
  • Clean pews, baptismal font, wax floor when needed, keep cleaning room tidy.
  • Defrost refrigerator.
  • Polish wood in sacristy.

4. Occasional Extra Cleaning
  • During big liturgical seasonal changes (Lent, Easter, Christmas, Holy Days, etc).
  • Notified for funerals and weddings.

5. Repairs: quick fixes report to maintenance man
6. Supplies needed: give list to maintenance man by placing list in mailbox at main office.
