Full-Time Medical Billing Associate

Hospice Billing | Reseda, CA


Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay: Starting at $21.00/hour (DOE)


Hospice eligibility and insurance authorization experience is highly preferred.

Position Summary


The Medical Billing Associate is responsible for accurately preparing, submitting, and following up on hospice billing claims for Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance, and private pay accounts. This position also assists with insurance verification, eligibility, authorizations, and maintaining accurate patient billing records while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum one year of medical billing experience required
  • Hospice billing, eligibility, and insurance authorization experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, private insurance billing, and medical terminology
  • Experience with EMR/billing software and Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills


Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare, process, and submit accurate billing claims
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations
  • Maintain and update patient billing and insurance information
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies and claim issues
  • Maintain accurate billing records and prepare reports as needed
  • Ensure compliance with hospice regulations, payer requirements, and company policies
  • Protect patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Participate in training, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development
