Job description

Portuguese Community Ambassador & Legal Liaison

Location: Boston, MA (Focus on Framingham, Somerville, Everett, and East Boston) Reports to: Director of Operations / Managing Partner / Director of Business Development

The Firm

At Jeffrey Glassman Injury Lawyers, we believe that justice should be accessible to everyone, regardless of the language they speak at home. As a staple of the Boston legal community, we are committed to serving the Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) community with the same intensity and excellence we bring to every case. We aren't just looking for a translator; we are looking for an advocate.

The Role

The Portuguese Community Ambassador is the face and voice of our firm within the Portuguese-speaking community. You will be the primary point of contact for clients who need a champion who understands not just their language, but their culture. From the initial "What do I do now?" phone call to the final settlement, you will ensure our clients feel seen, heard, and protected.

Key Responsibilities
  • The First Contact: Manage all incoming Portuguese-language inquiries. You will lead the initial intake process, identifying the core facts of a case while providing a compassionate ear to those in distress.

  • Case Liaison: Act as the dedicated point of contact for Portuguese-speaking clients. You will demystify the legal process, explain medical documentation requirements, and keep them updated on their case status.

  • Cultural Content Strategy: Collaborate with our marketing team to ensure our Portuguese-language messaging—from social media to billboards—is culturally authentic and resonates with the local Brazilian and Portuguese demographics.

  • Grassroots Outreach: Represent the firm at community festivals, church events, and local business gatherings in hubs like Framingham, Somerville, and New Bedford.

  • Legal Interpreting: Provide high-level interpretation during attorney-client meetings and depositions to ensure no detail—legal or emotional—is lost in translation.

  • Trust Building: Help potential clients overcome the "fear factor" of the legal system, explaining their rights under Massachusetts law in a clear, relatable way.

Required Qualifications
  • Bilingual Mastery: Complete fluency in both Portuguese and English. You must be able to navigate professional legal and medical terminology in both languages.

  • Exceptional EQ: You will be working with people during some of the most stressful moments of their lives. Patience and empathy are mandatory.

  • Cultural Nuance: A deep understanding of the diverse Portuguese-speaking community in Massachusetts (recognizing the distinct cultural nuances of Brazilian, European Portuguese, and Cape Verdean clients).

  • Communication Prowess: Ability to break down complex "legalese" into simple, actionable advice.

  • Proactive Mindset: You don’t wait for things to happen; you anticipate client needs and solve problems before they escalate.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in personal injury law, workers' compensation, or insurance.

  • Background in community organizing, sales, or social work.

  • Active presence or connections within the local Portuguese-speaking business or community networks.

Why Join Jeffrey Glassman Injury Lawyers?
  • Make a Real Difference: You will be the reason a family gets the medical care and compensation they deserve instead of being ignored by an insurance company.

  • Professional Growth: We are looking to grow our Lusophone department, and this role is the cornerstone of that expansion.

  • A "Boston Strong" Team: We work hard, we win big, and we treat our staff like family.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary plus performance-based bonuses that reward your impact on the firm's growth.
