Media Coordinator (Sound) – First Baptist Church of South Richmond

Position Type: Part-time (15–20 hours per week)

Location: Onsite (One church, two locations)

Overview

Seeking an experienced Media Coordinator with a proven track record of success and superior audiovisual technical skills. This professional will work in collaboration with the pastoral staff and music ministry to oversee all aspects of the media ministry, including live streaming, video production, social media, and graphic design. The Media Coordinator will assist in building and training media teams, managing content, and collaborating with the Media Director, pastoral staff, and various ministries.

This dynamic media professional will be responsible for working both Sunday services, weekly choir practices, and special events. Responsibilities include leading and executing all technical aspects of the media ministry—including audio, video, and lighting—as well as handling administrative, technical, and creative tasks for First Baptist Church of South Richmond.

The Media Coordinator will work collaboratively with the pastoral staff, Minister of Music, musicians, audio volunteers, and church staff. This includes handling content for various platforms to enhance worship services, church events, and community engagement, ensuring that the church's message is effectively communicated through visual and digital media.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement the development of comprehensive media strategies that align with organizational goals.

  • Oversee the creation of engaging content for various platforms, including social media, websites, and traditional media.

  • Manage relationships with external media partners and vendors to ensure effective collaboration.

  • Analyze media performance metrics to optimize campaigns and improve overall effectiveness.

  • Proactively supervise, guide, train, and support staff during the execution of worship and services.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the organization at the forefront of media innovation.

  • Communicate regularly and collaborate with the pastoral staff, musicians, and Minister of Music to ensure cohesive messaging across all channels for all services and programs.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in media production, graphic design, or a related field. Previous successful church media experience is preferred.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in ProPresenter software; experience with videography for both in-house and live streams; strong knowledge of audiovisual equipment and software; and mastery of video production for live and virtual events.

  • Operations & Documentation: Ability to create weekly written equipment and staff performance updates, conduct regular equipment audits, hold team meetings, and provide solutions. Responsible for creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment and services to ensure consistency and uniformity across all services and programs.

  • Interpersonal & Leadership Skills: Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and solid leadership skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, while remaining professional when troubleshooting problems under tight deadlines.

  • Content Management: Successful experience with content handling, including filtering and integrating all multimedia content (graphics, videos, and other digital materials) into live streams for use in services and events.

  • Service Production: Ability to create lower thirds for worship services and input necessary graphics into ProPresenter for display during worship.

Audio/Visual Management

  • Collaborate with pastors, worship leaders, ministry teams, volunteers, and church staff to understand their media needs and provide support and guidance.

  • Assist with recruiting, training, and retaining the media team (including professional staff and volunteers) on a regular basis. Create training guides and standard operating policies and procedures to ensure high quality and consistency.

  • Collaborate and partner with internet and technical providers to ensure premium technical functionality for all services and programs without interruptions.

  • Network with other religious organizations and professionals to learn and assist in the implementation of cutting-edge technology and procedures to ensure flawless execution.
