Position: Custodian
Location: Adventure Christian School
Reports to: Custodial Supervisor
FSLA: Non-exempt
Job Status: Part-Time
Position Overview
The School Custodian plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly campus environment for students, staff, and visitors. This entry-level position supports daily school operations through custodial services, cleaning, basic equipment operation, and campus security procedures. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining facilities that support learning and community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Custodial Services and Cleaning
  • Keep classrooms, offices, and building areas clean, sanitary, and orderly.
  • Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and buff floors.
  • Vacuum rugs and carpets.
  • Clean, dust, and polish cabinets, furniture, woodwork, and metal surfaces.
  • Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles.
  • Clean restrooms, stairways, elevators, hallways, lobbies, offices, and classrooms.
  • Clean ceilings, walls, windows, window shades, and light fixtures.
  • Refill lavatory, restroom, and housekeeping supplies as needed.

Equipment & Campus Support
  • Operate custodial equipment and machinery, including scrubbers, buffers, and waxers.
  • Use cleaning supplies and equipment safely and according to guidelines.
  • Assist with general custodial services and campus setup needs.

Safety & Security
  • Turn off lights and secure facilities by locking doors and windows.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or supply needs to the Custodial Supervisor.
  • Follow all safety procedures and school policies.

General Duties
  • Work cooperatively with custodial staff and school personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations.

Mission Critical Responsibilities
  • Have received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
  • Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living.
  • Be in whole-hearted agreement with the Adventure Christian School's Statement of Faith.

Requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Willingness to learn custodial procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

Preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience.
  • Familiarity with custodial equipment and cleaning products.
