Reports To: Director of Facilities 

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Campus Size: 56 Acres | P-12 School & Church

Role Overview

The Lead Facilities Technician is responsible for the operational integrity, safety, and climate control of our 56-acre campus. This role requires a "proactive fixer" mindset—someone who can manage complex HVAC systems and electrical grids while maintaining a safe environment for students and a welcoming atmosphere for church members. This role is a member of the Shared Services team supporting both the church and the academy.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Specialized Systems Management (HVAC & Electrical)
  • HVAC Oversight: Monitor, maintain, and repair campus-wide heating and cooling systems. Manage digital building automation systems (BAS) to ensure energy efficiency and comfort in classrooms and the sanctuary.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Perform high-level electrical repairs, including lighting ballasts, circuit breakers, and panel upgrades. Ensure all exterior campus and field lighting is functional for evening events.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee additional vendor electrician or HVAC support as needed to ensure quality work is completed.
  • Compliance: Maintain meticulous logs of inspections and repairs to satisfy state child-care licensing and fire marshal requirements.
  • Work Orders: Complete work orders as assigned in a timely manner in a highly relational enviroment.
2. Campus & Grounds Stewardship
  • Infrastructure: Oversee the upkeep of multiple buildings, ensuring plumbing, structural, and mechanical systems are operational.
  • Athletic Fields & Exterior: Coordinate with grounds crews to ensure fields, irrigation systems, and multipurpose outdoor spaces are safe for P-12 physical education and weekend church events.
  • Vendor Liaison: Act as the technical point of contact for external contractors during major capital projects or specialized installs.
3. Safety & Security
  • Environmental Safety: Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted with "Child-Safe" protocols (securing tools, managing chemicals, and scheduling loud/hazardous work outside of school hours).
Requirements:

Qualifications & Skills

  • Certifications (Required): Valid Journeyman Electrician license and/or EPA Universal HVAC Certification.
  • Experience: 5+ years in commercial facilities maintenance; experience with school or large-scale church campuses is a significant plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and navigate 56 acres in varying weather conditions.
  • Soft Skills: A servant-leader heart with the ability to interact professionally with faculty, students, and church volunteers.
