Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Take on a vital role within a world-class academic health system and help deliver life-saving surgical care to patients of all ages. In partnership with UCLA Health and Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), we are seeking a Congenital Heart Surgeon to join our esteemed Department of Surgery, recognized nationally for clinical excellence, innovation, and compassionate care. This is a contract-based opportunity to perform complex congenital cardiac surgeries across both institutions.

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including pediatric cardiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, and specialty-trained nursing staff.
  • Practice among two leading institutions - UCLA Health in Los Angeles and Children's Hospital of Orange County - with access to state-of-the-art surgical suites and ICU resources.
  • Contribute to a high-volume program that emphasizes quality outcomes, continuous innovation, and compassionate care.
  • Participate in ongoing clinical and academic collaborations in an environment that supports excellence in patient care, teaching, and research.

The University of California, Los Angeles is required to provide an estimate of the salary range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Salary offers are determined based on candidate qualifications and experience. The target salary range for this position is 142,100.00-138,100.00 annual base salary. Additional income channels will be determined per the direction of the Department.

Qualifications:
  • M.D. degree required.
  • Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS), with specialization in congenital heart surgery.
  • Possess or be eligible for California medical licensure.
  • Willingness to travel between UCLA Health and CHOC campuses.
  • Strong commitment to advancing care for patients with congenital heart disease across all ages.
