Job description

The Radiology Technologist Extender provides support and assistance to the radiologic technologist in caring for patients and family members during the imaging process. Working under direct supervision, this position assists the Radiologic Technologist by completing basic patient assessments including verifying patient orders, completing patient questionnaires, patient preparation and instruction.


Essential Job Function:

  • Assists technologists with tasks like minimum registration of Computerized Health Information (CHL) and the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), ensuring forms are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Manages and directs incoming phone calls to maintain efficient communication and organization within the department.
  • Assists in making call reminders for scheduled exams to enhance patient preparedness and departmental efficiency.
  • Enhances operational efficiency by cleaning and restocking procedure rooms to create a well-prepared environment for efficient patient care.
  • Welcomes and assists patients, their families and visitors entering the radiology department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.


Experience:


    Licensure/Certification/Listing:

    • Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
