Responsibilities
  • Responsible for decontamination, correct assembly and sterile processing of all instruments used in the operating room and ambulatory/specialty clinics. 
  • Demonstrates an understanding of procedures required for decontamination and terminal sterilization of instrumentation while instituting protective measures. 
  • Practices all infection control standards regarding proper cleaning and sterilization of all instrumentation. 
  • Understands and follows defined sterilization practices for all instrumentation to assure proper and approved sterilization. 
  • Assists in the facilitation of the OR schedule by proper prioritizing of instrument set needs, including ancillary departments. 
  • Track instrument sets and pouches on the proper sterilization record.
