Job description

Summary: The Chinese-Mandarin Online Language Instructor will support an ongoing requirement for live, virtual foreign Language, Regional Expertise, and Culture (LREC) instruction and related LREC program services. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: Assessing learner LREC proficiencies according to the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) skill descriptors. Providing virtual language instruction, from initiation acquisition through advanced-level, foreign language proficiency skills across the modalities of Listening, Reading, and Speaking (L/R/S) - employing contemporary, student-centric communicative, task-based, and blended-learning methodologies.

Providing virtual instruction covering regional and cultural subject matter - employing contemporary, student-centric communicative, task-based, and blended-learning methodologies. Developing POIs, lesson plans, or other learning material. Providing LREC instruction based on a designated and/or self-developed and approved Program of Instruction (POI).

Tailoring lesson plans, materials, and delivery methods to student interests and varied proficiency levels. Reviewing, correcting, and grading learner assignments, to include providing detailed feedback and developing learner profiles/portfolios that include short and long-term learning plans to achieve agreed-upon outcomes; Maintaining a positive and professional virtual learning environment. Improving knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) across Foreign Language Acquisition (FLA), Online Language Teaching (OLT), and related professional development in support of LREC program services.

Collaboration with learners, fellow instructors, management, and administrative staff to support LREC program services.
