This position is designed to improve regional student performance and requires effective interaction with ESC and school district personnel. The Accounting Clerk will assist the Finance Program Manager and the Head Start Director in the planning, development, implementation, and coordination of budget- and purchasing-related procedures. This individual will serve as the point of contact for any Head Start budget or purchasing issues and will provide technical assistance to the appropriate service area, site, or vendor. The Accounting Clerk will ensure that the purchasing and budgeting processes operate with maximum efficiency.
This position also receives and reconciles Non-Federal Share (NFS) forms from centers and service areas with the data in the ChildPlus system, ensuring data accuracy. The Accounting Clerk provides on-site and telephone assistance to center managers and clerks to troubleshoot challenges or concerns related to data entry and accuracy involving the Non-Federal Share.
This position requires occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience using computer software, including:
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS PowerPoint
  • Experience in office and finance procedures
  • College coursework (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Windows-based, web-based database systems such as TEAMS or ChildPlus (preferred)
  • Experience coordinating or providing budget-related technical assistance (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience as determined by the Executive Director
