Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for providing direct supervision and care for a group of children through a caring, positive, authoritative relationship. Makes children feel welcome and comfortable. Assists in the planning and implementing of scheduled period(s) of activities, which are developmentally appropriate and ensures the safety and well being of the children as well as providing a model of quality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares and Implements a program of activities in accordance with agency curriculum for a group of children. Prepares lesson plans.
  • Maintains attendance records for a designated group of children and Adheres to regular work and activity schedules. Assists in food preparation and distribution.
  • Establishes and Maintains control and safety of an assigned group of children. Assures the orderliness and cleanliness of designated work area(s).
  • Serves as an effective role model for the children by Assisting children in a way that develops the childโ€™s role and initiative and Interacts in ways that help them learn.
  • Maintains a positive and professional attitude with parents, children and staff at all times. Participates in parent contact and communication as assigned. Communicates the childโ€™s progress with parents in a positive and supportive manner.

SCREENING QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED and be 18 years of age or older. Prefer experience.
