Job description

Consistently ranking among American Banker magazine's "Best Banks to Work For" for over a decade, Zions Bancorporation is a "Collection of Great Banks" with local brand names and management teams in each of our major Western markets.

And because we've known that, for over 150 years, our success has come from the exceptional dedication, experience and talent of our diverse employee base, we're committed to being the premier employer of choice.

Ready to make your mark on a legacy brand?

Our expanding marketing team is building something special-a dynamic, in-house Creative Studio and innovative Demand Center that will transform how we connect with customers. Under fresh leadership from our newly appointed CMO, we're reimagining what marketing can be while supporting a bank known for its experienced bankers, exceptional service, and local leadership deeply rooted in the communities we serve. This isn't just another financial marketing role - it's your chance to shape a creative vision with real impact.

With benefits starting on day one, 12 bank holidays, profit sharing and company-matched 401(k) contributions, Zions is committed to career growth and advancement. At Zions, the possibilities are endless. If you're ready to create work that actually matters, we're ready to review your application.

You bring the talent; we bring the opportunity.

We are launching a new financial application and are looking for an exceptional Senior Copywriter who can move with urgency, think in systems, and write with precision and purpose. This is not a traditional copywriter role, as we need someone who deeply understands how words shape experience, trust, and action across every touchpoint of a digital product.

You will work alongside brand strategists, UX designers, product managers, and engineers to craft the voice of a brand from the ground up and bring it to life. If you thrive in fast-moving, high-stakes environments and have a passion for making complex financial concepts feel clear and human, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of brand voice, tone guidelines, and messaging frameworks from discovery through launch.

  • Write across the full product ecosystem - onboarding flows, UI microcopy, error states, notifications, marketing campaigns, and beyond.

  • Collaborate closely with UX designers to ensure copy and design work as a unified system, not separate layers.

  • Translate complex financial concepts into plain, compelling language that builds trust with a broad US audience.

  • Develop and maintain a consistent brand narrative across web, mobile, email, social, and paid channels.

  • Participate in cross-functional sprint planning and creative reviews, iterating quickly based on feedback.

  • Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure all copy meets regulatory requirements in the financial services space.

  • Contribute to content strategy decisions, including naming, taxonomy, and information architecture.

What You Bring

  •  7 years of professional copywriting experience, with meaningful work in both brand and UX contexts required

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating work across digital products, campaigns, and brand systems - ideally including financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries

  • Deep understanding of UX writing principles: microcopy, content design, user flows, and accessibility considerations

  • Proven ability to define and sustain brand voice at scale - from headline to help text

  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional product teams with fast turnaround cycles

  • Excellent instincts for what resonates with real people - particularly those navigating money, trust, and long-term decisions

  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make confident creative decisions in a launch environment

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit - you give and receive feedback graciously

  • Experience with fintech, banking, wealth management, or insurance products

  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma or content management platforms

  • Exposure to A/B testing, content analytics, or conversion-focused writing

  • Understanding of SEO best practices and how they intersect with brand voice

Salary Range: $80,000-$94,500 (Final compensation will be based on the selected candidate's location, experience, and other job-related factors.)

This opportunity can be hybrid across the Zions Bancorporation Footprint or 100% remote within the United States.

Why Join Us

  • Working with a talented, driven team that values craft and moves fast without sacrificing quality, you'll:

  • Have the opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up - your fingerprints will be on this brand

  • Enjoy a flexible, remote-first work environment with occasional in-person collaboration

  • Be part of a nationwide US launch scope with real visibility and creative impact

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance - START DAY ONE!

  •  Life and Disability Insurance, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption Assistance

  •  Health Savings (HSA), Flexible Spending (FSA) and dependent care accounts

  •  Paid Training, Paid Time Off (PTO) and 11 Paid Federal Holidays, and any applicable state holidays

  • 401(k) plan with company match, Profit Sharing, competitive compensation in line with work experience

  • Mental health benefits including coaching and therapy sessions

  • Tuition Reimbursement for qualifying employees enrolled in an accredited degree program related to the needs of the business, maximum of $5,250 per calendar year, employees are eligible for the program upon hire

  • Employee Ambassador preferred banking products
